Wow - that's weird. I read your question without the sub-text from the list and though "Gretchen".

Clicked on it to answer... and there is your additional text saying how you like Gretchen!

If she's pretty, you could always call her "Schoene" (Schćžšne) meaning "beautiful". Or make a play on that and call her "Shona". Shona the shepherd...
Reply:I like Schatz or Schatzi which means "treasure" (or dear), it is a term of endearment between between men and women and between parents and children, but it is also used for pets. I just like how it sounds and that it's a term of endearment, but it doesn't sound wussy in German either ;-) Report Abuse

Reply:How about Heidi?

I also like the name Hildegard.

here is a complete list of German names for female dogs. Pick your favorite. :]
Reply:Germans often call their female dogs "Fifi" - but it sounds more like a small dog, not like a German Shepherd.

Calling a dog by a girl's name is gross in my opinion.

Reply:Elke (EL-kuh) or Silke (ZIL-kuh)
Reply:ooh yeah, Heidi is soo cool :)

Reply:Friends or mine called their boxer puppy "Heidi".
