Do people realise that "Boehner" is a German name, probably meaning someone from Bonn?

Since people are talking about him making a run for President I thought that might be important to know.

But I'm sure his name will still make gradeschool children and late night comedians giggle.

Do people realise that "Boehner" is a German name, probably meaning someone from Bonn?
No, it's not a misspelling of "Bonner", which would be pronounced completely differently. It means "farm dweller" (Swedish), "bean grower", or "someone who has lived in a loft". 鈭犅?
Reply:so i guess you are trying to make a point somewhere . Half the country have different nationality;s name since this country wasn't all americans when formed. bet your name is not smith but then smith probably is not either. one thing i know he is working for our country , can't really say that about Obama . Now there's a good ole American name.
Reply:People talking about Boehner running for President? BS, I follow politics closely and that is something that I have not read or heard anywhere. FYI, 'Kennedy' is an Irish name, Smith is English, Yamamoto is Japanese and Barrack Hussein Obama is an Arabic/Muslim name from Kenya.
Reply:I don't think so. More likely it's derived from "bohne", the german word for bean. Perhaps, somewhere in the distant past, his ancestors were bean farmers?
Reply:I thought names ending in "er" were mostly Germanic in origin. But why does his name matter? Was it because he is leading his party to become the "party of no?"
Reply:So, a good chunk of Americans are of German descent
Reply:Nothing better to do today?
Reply:Boehner......"Yeah,yeah....hehehehe,you said bo ner".(Beavis%26amp;Butthead)
Reply:ok
Reply:ummmmm.... Herr Boehner does not appear to loyal..... shoot him....
