What does the german last name "heideman" mean in english?

idk

What does the german last name "heideman" mean in english?
Something like Meadow Man,

addition:

moor translates as marsh

where as die Heide is an area where heather grows.... that's why I translated it as meadow..., since I couldn't think of anything more specific or appropriate
Reply:I wouldn't translate names into English. A name is a name which is personal and depending on what country you come from or what your native language is, you shouldn't really change it into another language.

But Heide can mean "health", "moorland" or "pagan".

Mann means "man".

So you can choose what it means.
Reply:der Heide means pagan, heathen OR also open uncultivated land with few trees, moorland

so it means somebody from a moor
Reply:your case is simple

die Heide = heath

der Mann = man

so basically it means the guy living on the heath
