The word for girl is "Maedchen." Pronounced "MADE-shen"
It's usually spelled with an umlaut (those two dots) over the "a," and no "e" before the D.
It's easy to remember if you recall that English is a German language, so a lot of our words are similar to theirs. Thus: Maedchen ... maiden.
The other respondent is correct -- "Fraulein" is indeed the word for "Miss," as in "Miss Smith asked me to call her Barbara."
