What is the proper German form for the indefinite article before a family name?

For example, somebody named John Smith would use "The Smiths" to describe his family. How would that be done in German? Would it be "Die Smiths", or "Das Smiths", or something else?

What is the proper German form for the indefinite article before a family name?
Same as in english!

Reply:"die" would be the plural one, but I really don't think it works that way. I'm not German so I don't know, but it might be "Haus Smith".
Reply:Die= Plural
