Does anyone know of an old German carmaker by the name of Lloyds?

WRONG!!!...There WAS a German car company called Hansa-Lloyd;it was a part of the Borgward Group that was around from the early 1950s to the late 1960s...

A few Lloyds were even sold here in the US...as were a few Hansas...

HTH...

Does anyone know of an old German carmaker by the name of Lloyds?
Yes, there used to be a brand called Lloyd. These vehicles also had the nickname "Hansaplast-Bomber", which referred to the way they were built - namely from a mixture of materials which, if my memory does not fail me, consisted of cardboard and laminates of dubious qualities. The vehicle was used as a benchmarking basis for the Trabi cars of Eastern Germany. The Lloyd was meant to be an affordable, yet dignified vehicle for people with high aspirations and small budgets. A little executive-car, if you will. They sadly didn't quite hit it off though, and then disappeared from the scene some time in the 1960s, I believe...
Reply:Norddeutsche Automobil und Motoren GmbH was a German brand created in 1908 and was owned by the Norddeutsche Lloyd shipping company. The factory was in Bremen.
Reply:Sir William Loyd was not a German car maker he distinguised himself in the British motor trade---Cheers--
