How do you pronounce the german female name "Heike"?

Please try to spell out how the name sounds. I have a job interview today with a woman named Heike and I want to make sure I pronounce her name correctly when I greet her. thanks in advance!!

How do you pronounce the german female name "Heike"?
I believe it is Hi-keh (short e sound)
Reply:You could ask her how she spells her beautiful name.

The name is pronounced hai kee with an accent on the first syllable.

Rhymes with Nike, kirkey and psyche with a slightly higher accenting on the first syllable.
Reply:It is not usually necessary to know how to say the _first_ name of someone who is interviewing you - you probably won't be on a first name basis with them anyway. When you get to the office, tell the receptionist "I have a 10:00 appointment with Ms. Braun" and see how the receptionist says the name when she calls Heike Braun.

(We all know how to say the German name Heidi, so the Hei part must be pronounced like "hi", right? And the emphasis is probably on this Hi part, so it's probably close to Hi' keh. If it were Hi kee I think it would be spelled like Heidi)
Reply:You pronounce it- (Hi-ker) but with a kind of (euh) sound on the (er)

hope that's ok!

good luck with your interview!
Reply:The third answer above, from Snow, is correct. In German, the dipthong 'ei' is pronounced as a long i, while 'ie' is pronounced as a long e. The e on the end is pronounced as eh. Therefore, the name is pronounced Hi' keh as Snow said.
