What was the name of the German Boxer that Roy Jones refused to fight back in the early 2000's?

He was undefeated for a long time. Would Roy have beaten him?

What was the name of the German Boxer that Roy Jones refused to fight back in the early 2000's?
Jones and Dariusz Michalczeweski, who is actually a Polish born (German) fighter who also held a cruiserweight title never "got it on" mainly due to them both being hard headed fools. I remember this guy vividly. He was a really good fighter. With he and Jones both seemingly being the best at what they did, everyone knew that it was the fight waiting to happen.Besides money, neither fighter wanted to leave home and fight. After gaining his German citizenship in the late 80's Dariusz primarily fought Germany.....just as Roy preferred not going abroad to fight. If you are interested in seeing the Polish-German fighter in action some of his fights are available on VHS/DVD. I know that "Tiger" Dariusz can be seen in bouts against Virgil Hill, Derick Harmon, Montell Griffin, and, Fabrice Tiozzo on dvd. Anyway Dariusz, or Tiger Dariusz Michalzweski is the guy you are thinking of. On a final note, Roys' ducking finally caught up with him a few years ago with Tarver and then (Glen) Jones. Yep, it always does catch up with ya'.
Reply:Calzaghe isn't German.
Reply:he was avoiding Joe Calzaghe (welsh not german).
Reply:Joe Calzaghe 43 - 0 (32 KOs) is the fighter. He still remains undefeated, and in my own opinion, would knock Roy out at this stage of both there careers.
Reply:It was a German by the name of Sven Ottke. He retired undefeated with a 34-0 record in 2004. The knock on Ottke was he fought B/C level fighters and only had 6 career KOs. The only reason the fight never happened was Ottke refused to fight in America and Roy refused to fight him in Europe.
Reply:it was the one last guy said michelsheski or something like that, roy wasnt going to get enough money and didnt want to go to germany. roy would have beat him,i think the guy had artificial leg.
Reply:I had no idea who Calzaghe was at the time. I remember Roy Jones would dismiss him as a bum. But after watching a few of Calzaghe fights I think Jones was ducking him! Its perfectly understandable. Joe Calzaghe had no name, and would have given Roy Jones a REAL fight! and for what? Maybe he knocks poor Roy Jones out and he doesnt even get a good payday!
Reply:You are likely talking about Sven Ottke. A talented fighter, but Jones would have disposed of him with ease. Ottke was undeafeted, but didnt fight any real opposition. His later opponents all had solid records, but those records were achieved through weak opposition as well. Ottke's greatest acomplishment would be beating Glen Johnson, yeah thats it. Also, Ottke had one of the worst KO ratio's of any fighter, he was 34-0 with a whooping SIX KO's
Reply:I know he and Dariusz Michaelzewski(sp?) were avoiding each other in the 90's and such. Maybe that's who you're talking about.
