Being an inside/outside dog they do shed a lot. The cold outside tells them to put on a heavy coat %26amp; the warmth in the house tells them to throw their coat. So there will be a lot of shedding. If you brush thoroughly ever other day you should be ok.

Pick a name that fits his/her personality (dognality).
What is a good name for a German Shepherd and are the good dogs to keep inside?
Rana
Good indoor dogs but need exercise to run off energy. Depends on the age of the dog.
Wonderful, loyal and sweet. Need lots of love and will reciprocate with their affection. Very "classy" animals. Must be exposed to people and other dogs while still young as they are usually very protective of their families.
Reply:The only way to keep a dog is inside. I mean it is suppose to be apart of your family, not something you can just leave outside and you play with it when you want to. A dog is for life not just a few days. All dogs should be kept in the house...they love being with their families. A good name for a GSD...are you taking male/female? I love the names of...for female Tika, Heidi,
Males....Hans, Kruzer, Kipper, Zeus....
Reply:They are awesome dogs to have inside. Highly intelligent and able to be trained easily (usually). You have to brush them on a regular basis as they can be German Shedders!
And, of course, they need a lot of exercise.
I have two in my house and have had up to three. I don't know how I ever lived without them!
And the name would depend on boy or girl and whether you prefer German names or regular names. Hans or Gunter or Fritz for boy, Liebchen or Schotzi for a girl. But I've never named a dog before I got it. I live with it for a bit and then see what name seems to suit.
Good luck with your new baby! Let us know what you decide!
Reply:That all depends on how you raise them. Don't ever let somebody tell you something about an animal. Like pits, people put bad names on them because of the person who raised them. So if you want him/her inside, go for it! But don't take bad advice from someone who's dog hated them and were raised not to be an inside animal.
Kujo!!!! lol not sure on the name. Something strong though. German shepherds are a strong breed of dog. Give him/her a courageous strong victorious name. The letter V is really strong. I said strong 4 times, so yeah, I guess I'm done talking lol.
Okay wow Staci must hate animals. Those names would kill a pet....
Reply:Yes they are fine to keep inside as long as you brush and walk them regularly. Hmm good dog names .... Charlie, Alfie, Crumpet, Coco, Murphy. This website is quite useful for dog names http://www.animalfriends.org.uk/petnames...
Reply:They are great dogs to have indoors, just make sure that you brush them regularly, bathe them, and vacuum, because they do tend to shed. A name.... that's a tough one. I do suppose it depends on the dog, my neighbors have one named Uma, and the other neighbors' dog is Rusty.....??
