My friend just adopted a dog from the shelter; he's about a year old and small for a Shepherd/Husky mix dog but has gorgeous blue eyes.
My friend already has a dog named "Duke" so what's a good name for this dog? We're leaning towards "Thor" right now.
What's a good name for a small German Shepherd/Husky mix male dog?
I love the name "Thor". :) :) I vote for that one.
And here are some other names i recommend:::
King
Prince
Ace
Major
Riggs
Dodger
Chrome
*Good Luck and i hope these names help. :)
But i like Thor as well.
Reply:If he has gorgeous blue eyes, I'd name him Blue.
We have a german shepherd/chow mix (small short hair but has the coloring and looks of a gs) and he had black teardrops under his eyes and I wanted to call him Cooper (Alice Cooper) yet he also has the black lining of the eye (where we would put eyeliner) that reminded my husband of Elizabeth Taylor so I suggested Taylor and his name is Dutch--LOL!!!
We have Dutch (gs/chow), Tramp his name hasn't been changed from the time we adopted (beagle/jack russel terrier) and both adopted and then we have our new pup full blooded german shepherd who's name is Zeus.
Reply:There are a few things that one should consider when choosing a name:
--%26gt; does it sound like a command (e.g. "Joe" sounds like "no")?
--%26gt; will there be a mass of other dogs/animals/people with the same name where your dog will be?
--%26gt; will it ever be confusing to your dog in any way?
--%26gt; do you like the name?
--%26gt; are you sure you won't keep changing the name (it's cruel to the dog to change his name heaps as he'll get confused)?
--%26gt; will you be embarrassed doing a recall in public (e.g. a dog named Poopie, the owner may be a bit embarrassed to call that out across the park)?
--%26gt; is it offensive?
--%26gt; will you be comfortable putting it on registration papers, vet documents... etc.?
Those are just a few basic things you should consider about a name. As for suggestions, I won't give any as everyone has different tastes. Do you like common names or exotic ones? Do you like masculine ones or unisex ones? Everyone has different likes. I asked people to help name my puppy and I wasn't satisfied with many of the names given. I eventually settled on one that I had picked out for her originally (Lilou).
Hope that helps. =)

Reply:I had a german shepard husky mix when I was in junior high school. The best dog I ever had, He was smart, loyal, dependable, and my very best friend. His name was Richard (Richie). When I got married at 18 I wanted to take him with me but my ex-husband said no. I should have kept him instead. Anyway, Richard is a good name.
Reply:Thor is awesome.
^^
I, personally, like Shadow for husky-type dogs.
But, Aspen, or Yukon, are good husky-shepherd-mix names too, in my opinion.
Good luck with your dog!
Reply:duke and thor is both good. Thor is better b'cause it's unusual. Hmmm. Lucky's a good name! You saved his life! If you don't like lucky, Stick with Thor.
Reply:We have one of those - got him at around a year too. He already had a name, Balto, which we didn't like but we didn't want to confuse him.
I think Thor sounds like a good name.
Reply:I really like the name Rosco or Buddy. I love huskies and germans! Two great breeds combined into one! Tell your friend congratz.
Reply:I have a german shepard, I named him Cane, tough name but soft at the same time. Don't you think?
